About This Campaign
International students represent 20% of our campus community and come from around the world. UTMSU is committed to supporting them in every way possible.
International students face many challenges when they arrive in so-called Canada, including homesickness, culture shock, racism, and discrimination. Moving to a new country can also be isolating and lonely. International students pay four times more in tuition fees than domestic students, creating significant financial strain for them and their families.
We, the students, demand
- Eliminate tuition fees for all international students
- Reintegrate international students into the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)
- Improve immigration policies so international students can live and work in Canada
