About This Campaign
Access to post-secondary education is a human right and should be free and accessible. While we work toward a world where everyone has access to education, we must continue fighting administrative policies that attack students' academic journeys.
Students do not live in a bubble. Events around the world can affect their ability to meet academic requirements, and UTMSU will continue fighting for a fair and equitable education.
UTMSU will fight for
- Reducing or eliminating extra fees, including official transcript request, exam deferral, and exam re-grade fees
- Extending the Second Attempt at Credit Policy to failed courses
- Creating a post-graduate survival guide
- Improving the Absence Declaration policy
- Expanding the WUSC program to support two students per year, or providing one WUSC student with up to two years of residence
- Researching and opposing academic policies that negatively affect students and their paths to success
Support with Academic Offences
The Vice-President University Affairs helps students understand the academic offence process and can attend a dean's designate meeting as a representative to support the student.
When an academic offence case reaches the tribunal level, UTMSU connects students with Downtown Legal Services, a separate legal service provider. UTMSU does not directly provide legal advice or legal representation.
