CampaignsConsent is Mandatory

Consent is Mandatory

Building a campus culture rooted in consent, respect, survivor-centred support, and safer policies.

About This Campaign

Consent is permission for something to happen to you, around you, or with you, whether it is sexual or nonsexual. Consent is enthusiastic, sober, and freely given between people with equal power. It can be withdrawn at any point and is mandatory.

Consent means ensuring that every person feels safe and comfortable and has ownership over their own body, space, and decisions. A person's identity, appearance, clothing, or behaviour has no bearing on whether they have given consent.

Consent is Mandatory builds a campus culture rooted in consent, respect, and survivor-centred support while advocating for safer campus policies.

UTMSU will continue the fight for

  • Consent education
  • A respectful campus culture
  • Survivor-centred support
  • Safer campus policies
  • More on-campus resources
