Campaigns Mental Health Matters
Mental Health Matters
1 in 5 Canadians experience mental health issues. We push for better campus mental health services and pharmacare.
About This Campaign
Young people aged 15–24 are more likely to experience mental health issues than any other group. A survey of 43,000 students found 89.5% felt overwhelmed and 73.5% felt very sad — yet campus mental health services remain underfunded and understaffed. UTMSU advocates for better resources and a national pharmacare strategy.
What We're Fighting For
- Increase funding and staffing for on-campus mental health services
- Advocate for a national pharmacare program to make medication affordable
- Break the stigma around mental health in the student community
- Push for more accessible counselling and psychiatric services
